Compassionate Prayer

  
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15
Damian Jean Baptiste finished the race and is with the Lord. God used Damian’s faithful life to serve and change untold multitudes as a missionary to India and then to lead the ICOC churches in the Caribbean for many years. He had been fighting a very fast growing liver cancer since only last summer.

  
Everyone is invited to a memorial service at the Columbia Church of Christ (SC) building on Saturday, November 17, at 2:00 pm A dinner will follow for family members and out of town guests. An additional memorial service will be held in Bridgetown, Barbados on November 24.

  
Please keep his immediate family in your prayers: Karlene, Melanie,19 and Matthieu,16. Also be praying for the rest of the family, the Barbados church, all of our disciples in the Caribbean. and all of Damian’s many friends around the world.

  
If any church would like to help, the Columbia Church of Christ (SC) has set up a fund for the family medical bills, etc. Donations can be wired directly to the Columbia Church of Christ. If individuals would like to donate directly to the family, please contact Paul Ramsey at disciple73@aol.com and he will provide donation information. Please note that donations made by individuals to the family directly are not tax deductible.

  
May we follow Damian’s example as he shared his faith till the end, loving, serving and spreading God’s Good News of the sure hope we have in the risen Christ.

  4. I spoke with Simone Irving this morning concerning her mother. Simone’s mom is now out of the hospital and improving. Please continue to pray for her recovery and the administrative/logistical responsibilities associated with any automobile accident. Anyone who has been in an accident can attest to all the details in speaking with insurace providers.

    Please pray for Lebanon and the disciples there. There was a bombing yesterday (Friday) morning in the crowded neighborhood of Ashrafieh in Beirut, killing at least three people and wounding scores more. From what I read this is also a Christian neighborhood. I am in touch with a sister there, and she said things are very bad. Her name is Betty Maamari. Please be praying for the safety of all the disciples there.

  11. My close family friend, Donna Garner, had to have emergency heart surgery this past Saturday due to a tear in her the lining of her heart. She came through surgery well, but is still not out of the woods. She is currently in ICU for an undetermined amount of time and has a long road to recovery.

  13. Dear heavenly Father I humbly come before you & ask not only for my forgiveness but to ask that you forgive us all of ourselves. We are sinful beings wicked by nature but do not consider us unworthy of your grace because of our own afflictions & iniquities. There are many of us who are sick that need your healing. Many of us are troubled & poverty stricken, some of us are suffering from loneliness & addiction, others are homeless, lost, incarcerated or just simply forgotten. Lord I pray that you deliver us from all the things of this world & our selfish ambitions that bind us but according to your will. Let us not be hindered from the challenging unpleasant & uncomfortable experiences we feel from this life. Allow us benevolent hearts to show compassion but strong enough to endure the despair, restore in us healthy able bodies capable of fulfilling our purpose & grant us willing spirits to not only recognize the example, in Christ Jesus who died for us, but the courage to act. May those of us in high position be humbled & content & may those of us in lower position gain patience & understanding. Let us not forsake the love, life & countless blessings given us. God I pray these thing all according to your everlasting faith. It is in “His,” holy precious name I consider it done. Amen. Robbie Talton

  15. Please pray for Arti and myself. She had a C-section today around 5:00 pm to give birth to our new daughter. We appreciate all your prayers. We are at the hospital now (Atlanta Medical Center used to be called Georgia Baptist). Actually, it’s right down the street from the church.
